New Handyman in my Garden – entry no. 49

Sunday evening

Anton came over after lunch and he turned out to be even better that I had expected. He’s a funny, stocky man with dark blonde hair and cool, casual stubble and green eyes. He’s a bit taller than I am and when he asked me for the details of my practical needs he looked me straight in the eyes, which made me weak in the knees.

I didn’t do anything, just enjoyed that he had come over to help me with my handiwork. And he was great at it; it took him only two hours to tick off everything on my list! That included carrying some heavy stuff into the attic, clearing out the shed, oiling the garden furniture, repairing the stuck lid on the grill and fixing the loose plank by the doorjamb. I served coffee and cake and he told me that he had lived in a house for years but was now living in a flat. He had studied building and construction, which was why he knew so much about handiwork.

Just got a text from my father that Uncle Theo is much sicker than the doctors had thought at first, so I should visit him in hospital tomorrow. Apparently he’s been asking for me.
